How would you update a historically significant space to encourage multiple generations to enjoy it? Courthouse lawns have historically been the center of the community and are being updated to enhance accessibility, incorporate modern technology, and respect history. DG2 is working with Perry County to develop a master plan to update the County Courthouse Lawn into a civic campus.
The Perry County Courthouse is a government building for Perry County that lies on the main square in Perryville, Missouri. DG2 is working with the County and the community to program the lawn as the existing courthouse activities will soon be relocated to the County’s new Justice Center.

Like many courthouses, the Perry County Courthouse is elevated in the center of the community. DG2 is creatively designing modifications to the surrounding walls to allow for ramps, terraced seating, and access points throughout.

The Courthouse lawn and urban space include an entrance forecourt and spray jets, pocket park, outdoor plaza/seating terraces, streetscape elements, specific areas for a war memorial, civil war memorial, war markers, improved signage, and wayfinding provide an enhanced and more intuitive urban campus for all ages and abilities.
