Ballwin City Hall

Ballwin, Missouri

DG2 Design collaborated with the City of Ballwin and its architectural team to reimagine what a government building can be — not just a place to conduct civic business, but a genuine gathering place that reflects a community's values and invites residents in.

The key to that vision was location. By siting the new City Hall within Vlasis Park — Ballwin's largest and most beloved green space — the design team wove governance and nature together in a way that softens the formality typically associated with municipal buildings. Open space, natural plantings, and a transparent, welcoming architectural character replace the imposing facades of conventional civic structures, signaling that this is a building that belongs to the people who use it.

That integration takes on added meaning given Vlasis Park's role as the home of Ballwin Days, a community festival that draws residents from across the St. Louis area. With City Hall now anchored within that same landscape, the civic and the celebratory share common ground — and the building becomes part of the community's collective identity rather than a structure set apart from it.

The result is a 3-acre civic campus that goes beyond meeting practical needs. It reflects Ballwin's commitment to transparency, accessibility, and the idea that good government and a good quality of life are not separate pursuits.
