Landscape architect Kristy DeGuire — founder of DG2 Design  — designed the master plan and construction drawings for Progress West Medical Center and its Data Center in O’Fallon, Missouri. The project achieved LEED Gold certification under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, recognizing its rigorous approach to green building design, sustainable construction, and reduced environmental impact.

A Sustainable Site Built for the Future

The site integrates more than a dozen green technologies and practices into a cohesive, functional landscape. Bioswales manage on-site stormwater, green screens add vertical vegetation to building edges, and reestablished prairie areas restore a sense of regional character. LED lighting, permeable surfaces, native plantings, and a constructed wetland round out a portfolio of sustainable features chosen not only for their aesthetic value but for their measurable environmental performance.

Balancing Mission-Critical Needs with Ecological Responsibility

Data centers and mission-critical healthcare facilities present distinct design challenges: they must be highly functional, secure, and increasingly sustainable. The landscape architecture for Progress West Medical Center & Data Center was designed with all three imperatives in mind — providing green infrastructure that supports ecological resilience while meeting the rigorous operational demands of a modern medical campus.
