Crestwood Community Center at Whitecliff Park

Crestwood, Missouri

The new Crestwood Community Center is a centerpiece of Proposition A, a $33 million bond issuance that Crestwood voters approved during the General Municipal Election on April 2, 2024, funding the city's most significant park improvements in decades.

Located within Whitecliff Park, the $25 million facility broke ground on Friday, May 23, and is envisioned as a central hub for recreation programming in the city, with construction carefully phased to keep nearby park and aquatics facilities open throughout the process. DG2 Design collaborated with the design team and city leaders to position the new community center to take advantage of the site's natural topography, preserving several large, mature oak trees on site while showcasing the native woodland adjacent to Gravois Creek, which runs just south of the project.

The site includes a welcoming plaza at the main entry, designed as a flexible space for community events, along with a second plaza at the lower level of the building that opens onto the native landscape and hosts events and daily fitness classes. With a focus on sustainability, the landscape features a one-acre native Missouri short grass prairie that supports the site's stormwater design.

DG2 Design also designed the monument signage, incorporating natural stone and landscape to blend with the new community center's architecture and to draw on Whitecliff Park's history as a former stone quarry.
