Meramec Greenway at Unger Park
Fenton, Missouri
DG2 Design is working with Great Rivers Greenway and St. Louis County Parks to realign the Meramec Greenway through Unger Park, a county park along the Meramec River known for disc golf, fishing at Unger Lake, picnicking, and trail recreation.
After repeated flooding and erosion closed a portion of the greenway, DG2 Design partnered with a civil engineer to identify a more resilient trail alignment, along with a new trailhead and parking area near the lake. The realignment will add approximately 1.7 miles to the Meramec Greenway and open the door to future corridor expansion, ultimately connecting Unger Park to Fenton City Park, George Winter Park, and the pedestrian and bike bridge across the Meramec River along I-44.
DG2 Design also led public engagement for the project, holding multiple on-site community meetings and coordinating with the Disc Golf Club and local businesses along the Cassens Drive connection.
